As the rest of world was challenged in 2020 so were the AFL ladies. We were fortunate to get much support and were able to continue assisting on many projects but when the opportunity came for the Johannesburg ladies to get together and plan some activities for 2021 we jumped at the opportunity.
Village d’ Afrique just outside Modimolle offered us accommodation and our minds were whizzing has to what we could do while on our way to our planning session. Ons se Rus / Waterberg DiensSentrum was identified as having a great need. This is a home for 27 elderly people and whilst there, there was an appeal for food for them. We were sadly not allowed to visit the residents but we were able to arrange a spoil for them.
Some of the residents have not had visitors since March last year and those that are allowed to visit are allowed in for 20 minutes a month. Very sad times we live in but the safety of the people is paramount.
All residents were given a large care pack of toiletries and sweet treats as well as a Spur burger meal. The Lone Bear Spur kindly donated cold drinks to go with the meal.
